10 Things That You Need on Your Vacation Preparation Checklist

Did you know that around 93 million US citizens go abroad each year?

Going abroad is meant to be relaxing, but on the run-up to a holiday, you might find yourself stressing out trying to create a vacation packing checklist.

Are you planning a vacation? Do you know what you should include on your vacation checklist?

In this article, we’ll share ten things that you need to include when planning a vacation checklist.

1. Tickets and Transfers

Have you got your flight tickets? Have you booked an airport transportation service? Do you need to hire a car at your destination?

All of these are important questions you need to be asking yourself on the run-up to your vacation.

2. Passport and Visas

If you’re traveling abroad, you’re going to need your passport. Make sure there is enough time left to run on it. Many countries expect you to have at least six months left on your passport before you’re allowed to enter.

Certain countries will require you to have a visa. You can usually obtain these from the nation’s consulate. Allow plenty of time to apply for your visa.

3. Travel Money

Wherever you’re going, you’ll need some local currency. It’s usually advisable to use a mixture of cash and credit card.

If you’re planning on using your credit card, check out the fees for exchanging currencies before you go and alert your credit card company to the fact that you’re going overseas.

4. Insect Repellant and Bite Cream

Depending on where you’re going, you may get bitten by mosquitos or other insects. Don’t get caught out. Take insect repellent and bite cream and use them.

5. Vaccinations

Some countries still have rare and tropical diseases. The last thing you’d want is to catch one of these. Find out whether your destination requires you to have any vaccinations before you depart and get them done.

6. Travel Guides

Don’t get lost and don’t miss out on any of the must-see sights. Take a guidebook with you.

It may also be helpful if you get hold of a travel phrasebook if you’re heading to a country where English isn’t the lingua franca.

7. Phone and Charger

Where would we be these days without our smartphones? Take yours with you and find out about roaming costs before you depart. If it’s costly to use your phone, turn off data and just use wi-fi to connect to the web wherever you are.

8. Camera

While it’s important to experience as much of your holiday as possible, it’s always nice to have some photos to look back on. Take a camera and a spare memory card. Don’t forget your camera charger or spare batteries.

9. Vacation Suitcase Checklist

There’s a lot that you’ll need to fit in your case. Make a list of outfits that you plan on taking. Try and minimize the number of heavy items such as shoes you plan on taking.

10. Beach Vacation Checklist

If you’re heading for a beach holiday, don’t forget sunscreen and aftersun. You should also take appropriate attire for the beach and some sunglasses. Don’t get a towel!

Bon Voyage!

You can use this vacation checklist as a helpful guide to get yourself ready for your trip. Once you’re packed, you’re ready to go. Enjoy!
