5 Negative Habits That Make You Less Attractive (and How to Stop Them)

By: Barbara Bent

These habits are instant turn-offs:

1. Talking about yourself
While it’s great to share your life with the ones you love, be careful not to take it overboard–that’s tacky. Instead, focus your next conversation on the other person by asking them how their day is going.

2. Slouching
Try to sit up straight and wear a smile. When you’re curled over like a shrimp, you look unapproachable.

3. Putting others down
Avoid talking about other people in rude ways when you’re having a conversation. This habit makes you seem gossipy, which is unattractive. After all, who would want to befriend someone who looks like they stab others in the back?

4. Complaining
Being a Debby Downer gets you nowhere. If you have something negative to say, don’t say it at all.

5. Apologizing for no reason
Do NOT apologize for something you shouldn’t be sorry for, such as asking a question.
