Sri Lanka is particularly pleased at the continuing success of promoting Buddhist Culture for a peaceful world as a country that has undergone hardship for a period of more than 30 years without peace, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne in a felicitation message to the Second Asian Festival of Buddhist Culture said.
The message: “I am indeed pleased to send this message of felicitation on this happy occasion of the celebrations of “the Second Asian Festival of Buddhist Culture,”organized by the World Alliance for the Buddhist Culture Exchange in collaboration with the Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs Ministry and the Temple of the Tooth Relic, Kandy.
“The many delegations of Buddhists who will gather at the auditorium of Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) for the celebrations will engage in learned discourse and other activities that will draw increased attention to the relevance of Buddhist teachings to the world today.
I am confident that it will chart out more paths for the spread of the Great Message of The Middle Path for the lasting peace of the world.
“I thank the organizing committee for holding this important event in Sri Lanka and wish the celebrations all success,” the message said.
