TWO Buddhist monks have given charitable donation a personal touch by donating their blood to the Red Cross.
Kadawatha Vijithawansha Thero and Meegalawe Bodhirathana Thero spent last Saturday giving blood at the Mount Waverly Donor Centre.

The monks, who are staying at the Mahamevnawa Meditation Centre at Narre Warren North, regularly provide spiritual guidance to members of the Sri Lankan community.
Mr Vijithawansha Thero said giving blood was just another way of helping out fellow human beings.
“According to Buddhist teaching, we (must) try to help others to make them happy and well,” Mr Vijithawansha Thero said.
“We must work hard, as monks, to do something for the community, and one of those things is to help the sick.”
