Planning a trip to Singapore? You’ve come to the right place. Choosing whether or not to visit Singapore is an easy decision, choosing when to visit isn’t. As one of the most diverse and stimulating countries on the planet, Singapore boasts an undeniable wealth of art, culture, and local delights to keep you going for a full vacation.
However, like most islands in the South Pacific, there are going to be some weather issues that’ll make you think twice about when to book your trip. Today, we’ll help you figure out the best time to visit Singapore so you can focus on booking excursions, accommodations, and other activities while you’re there.
Considering the Weather
Singapore has a beautiful, warm, tropical climate and gets year-round temperatures in the 80s. The one caveat is that you’re likely going to see some rainfall, no matter when you decide to book.
However, there are times throughout the year when you’ll be subject to heavy rainfall that could put a damper on your mood and activities. The Northeast monsoon season occurs in November and December, while the Southwest monsoon comes between June and September. Each season has its own rainy characteristics.
The Busy Seasons
Not all tourists are negatively affected by monsoon seasons and there are even “wet” and “dry” periods within monsoon season. Between November and June is what we would call the “high” season in Singapore, which is when you’ll see the most tourists and thus, the highest prices.
However, if you want to find warmer weather during a cold winter or experience Chinese New Year, then you’ll have to travel during this time frame. If your focus is on affordability, the summer months are probably better for you, plus, there is still a ton to do and see, which should keep you occupied.
What Do You Want to See?
You’ll have to do some research of your own to figure out what you’ll be doing during your trip. There are festivals and activities that happen year-round, so find a few that appeal to you and base your trip around them.
For instance, you’ve got Chinese New Year and the Hindu festival, Thaipusam, in January. Buy a Wings of Time ticket for April or attend the Singapore International Festival of Arts in May, followed by the Great Singapore Sale and the Dragonboat Festival in June. The Nine Emperor Gods Festival is held in October.
You see, there’s no shortage of entertainment. Singapore is also known as one of the most multi-cultural places in the world, so you should be able to find a festival or celebration for just about anything while you’re there.
So, When Is the Best Time to Visit Singapore?
There is no “best time to visit Singapore” because there are amazing things to do and sights to see all-year-round. If you want to save money, try to avoid the high period. But, so long as you’re okay with a bit of rain, any time of year should do.
